Have you Ever?

Have you ever started reading a book and you think it's a good book but you just don't want to read it now?

I've started reading Tony Parsons' One for My Baby. I'm only 20-odd pages in and it's great so far. Tony Parsons writes great stories from the male perspective but they're about real life. I mean the characters could be the Joe next door except they're all set in England. I love his style and his books but I just don't think I want to read that book now. I think I'm going to put it on the back burner and start another book.

I bought three new books yesterday and I think I may read one of them first. A couple of them are only short, 200 pages or so. The other is a biography. I'm looking forward to reading all of them... hopefully even more than just those lol.

Am I weird for wanting to do that? Is it just me or does anyone else want to do that sometimes too? I think I may be getting a little tired of the lovey-dovey books and want something different. I'll keep you all posted. I don't want to tell the names of the books because I like introducing them after I read them!

  1. I don't think you're weird. I totally understand.

Sometimes, books are like fine wines or really decadent desserts--something to be saved and savored when you truly have time to enjoy them--instead of rushed through and not given the time and appreciation that they are worthy of.

I've done the same thing with books--picked it up, got pulled in immediately, knowing that this would be an AWESOME story that I would never ever forget--and then making the decision to walk away until such a time that I could read it, savor it, and enjoy it the way that I knew it deserved to be. :)
